Quick answer

  • As listed on 28 October 2026, starting prices ranged from P103 per trip (Travel Saver Plus on GCash, Philippines and Southeast Asia) to P1,190 per trip (Malayan Travel Master international on GCash). Oona listed International Travel from P299 for a 5-day trip.
  • Your premium depends on where you go, how many days, your age, the cover limits you pick and any add-ons.
  • The cheapest plan isn't always the best value. Compare the medical limit and exclusions, not just the price.

"Magkano ba talaga ang travel insurance?" Fair question, lalo na kung tipid mode ka na sa flights at hotel. The good news: for a short trip, many plans cost less than one dinner out. The catch: the price you see first is a starting price, and yours can be different.

Notes from the pages:

  • Oona says its P299 starting price is for a 5-day international trip, inclusive of tax. The Lite, Premier and Elite starting prices come from Oona's own blog table, updated 28 September 2026, which says they're starting prices shown on its product pages.
  • Oona's blog also says its Schengen-accredited cover starts at P602 on its product page.
  • Smart Flight Delay isn't full travel insurance. GCash lists lounge access when your flight is delayed, P10,000 passenger injury or death cover, and up to 4 flights of your trip.

What you get for the price

A price means nothing without the cover. Here's what each page lists as the main limits.

Travel Saver Plus (P103 per trip). GCash lists up to P500,000 accidental death and disablement, P500,000 unprovoked murder and assault, P250,000 medical reimbursement, a P10,000 burial benefit and a P20,000 travel inconvenience benefit.

Standard Travel Protect International (P350 Asia, P411 international). GCash lists P500,000 emergency medical assistance, emergency travel assistance, a P50,000 travel inconvenience benefit, P1 million personal liability and P1 million personal accident. The GCash Help Center says it's cashless and covers ages 0 to 59, with ages 60 to 75 possibly covered with a premium surcharge.

Malayan Travel Master with Covid-19 (P950 to P1,190). GCash lists dual cover for emergency medical, for accident or sickness and for COVID-19, plus P1 million personal accident.

Oona International Travel (from P299). Oona lists up to P5 million for medical and emergency expenses, depending on the plan, and up to P2.5 million for COVID-related expenses, with travel inconvenience, personal accident and personal liability benefits.

Oona Domestic Travel (P266). Oona lists up to P1 million for medical and emergency expenses, including COVID-19.

As you can see, a P103 plan and a P1,190 plan are very different products. One is mostly accident and reimbursement cover for nearby trips. The other is a fuller policy for long-haul travel.

What makes your premium go up or down

Destination. Many plans price by region. You can see this on GCash: Standard lists P350 for Asia and P411 for international, and Malayan lists separate local, Asia and international prices.

Number of days. Longer trips cost more. Oona's starting price is for 5 days. A two-week trip will cost more on the same plan.

Age. Many plans charge more for older travelers or stop at a certain age. Standard Travel Protect International covers ages 0 to 59 at the base price, with a surcharge for 60 to 75.

Cover limits. Higher medical limits and more benefits cost more. That's the difference between Oona's Lite, Premier and Elite.

Add-ons. Winter sports, adventure activities, extra cancellation cover or other options add to the price.

Single trip or annual. If you travel several times a year, an annual multi-trip plan may make sense. Oona lists its annual plan at P13,940 per year. Compare that with what you'd pay for each trip separately.

Visa needs. A Schengen visa needs at least EUR 30,000 of medical cover and, for some embassies, an insurer from their list. That can rule out the cheapest options. See our Schengen guide.

Three sample trips, using listed starting prices

These show which listed plans fit which trip. They aren't personal prices. Your own premium depends on your details.

  • 5 days in Tokyo. Plans that list Asia or international cover: Oona International Travel from P299, Standard Travel Protect International at P350 per trip in Asia, Malayan Travel Master at P970 per trip in Asia.
  • 3 days in Boracay. Domestic options: Travel Saver Plus at P103 per trip, Oona Domestic Travel at P266.
  • 10 days in Europe on a Schengen visa. You need a plan your embassy accepts. Oona's blog says its Schengen-accredited cover starts at P602. Check your embassy's list before you buy any plan.

How to compare cost properly

  1. Start with the trip, not the price. Where, how long, who's going, what you'll do.
  2. Shortlist plans that fit. Right region, right age, enough medical cover, visa-accepted if you need it.
  3. Then compare price. Among plans that fit, the cheaper one is fine.
  4. Check the deductible. Some plans make you pay part of each claim. EKTA's Schengen page, for example, shows a 25% deductible example on one tariff.
  5. Read the exclusions. Pre-existing conditions, sports, pregnancy and some destinations are common exclusions.

A cheap plan that doesn't cover what happens to you costs more than a pricier one that does.

Is free travel insurance from a credit card enough?

Some bank cards give free travel insurance when you pay your fare with the card. The cover varies a lot by bank and card. Some cover only the time you're on the plane or in transit. Some aren't accepted for Schengen visas. Read our credit card travel insurance guide before you skip buying a policy.

What about airline add-ons?

Airlines and booking apps sell insurance at checkout. Cebu Pacific's CEB TravelSure, for example, is an optional add-on with Chubb. Its help page doesn't list a fixed price, since coverage and premiums vary by origin. See our Cebu Pacific guide.

A note on prices you see online

  • Prices on social media posts and blogs go out of date fast. Check the insurer's page on the day you buy.
  • Promo vouchers exist. GCash posted a GInsure travel promo in March 2026 for select verified users. Promos are time-limited and conditions apply.
  • Prices you see as a starting price assume the cheapest settings. Enter your real trip details on the insurer's page to see yours.
  • We'll update this page when we recheck. The date at the top tells you when we last did.

Frequently asked questions

Magkano ang travel insurance sa Pilipinas?

Depende sa trip mo. As listed on 28 October 2026, starting prices ranged from P103 per trip (Travel Saver Plus on GCash, Philippines and Southeast Asia) to P1,190 per trip (Malayan Travel Master international on GCash). Oona listed International Travel from P299 for a 5-day trip.

What is the cheapest travel insurance for international travel?

Among the plans we read, Oona's International Travel started at P299 for a 5-day trip and Standard Travel Protect International on GCash was P350 per trip in Asia. Check that the cover fits your trip before choosing on price.

Why is my price higher than the starting price?

Starting prices assume the cheapest settings, like a short trip, a young traveler and the lowest plan. Longer trips, older age, worldwide cover and add-ons all raise the premium.

Is annual travel insurance cheaper?

It can be if you travel often. Oona listed its Annual Multi-Trip plan at P13,940 per year on 28 October 2026. Add up what you'd pay per trip and compare.

Does a cheap plan work for a Schengen visa?

Not always. Schengen visas need at least EUR 30,000 of medical cover, valid across the Schengen area, and some embassies only accept insurers on their own list. Check your embassy's rules first.
